ECI, the European Construction Institute, is Europe's only transnational learning and improvement network covering the entire project implementation supply chain.
ECI's Members are clients, contractors, suppliers and advisors.
ANIMP is a Member of ECI and Luigi Iperti on behalf of the President of ANIMP, Fabrizio di Amato, gave a welcome to all the participants.
Under President Michel Vircogeux, ECI organised a very interesting Conference. A booming market, the global skills shortages, SHE management and building high performance teams were the more common topics.
Large projects were presented such as the 8 Billion Euro "Ormen Lange Project, Norway", completed in 4 years, which was described by the Vice President of StatoilHydro, Mr. Geir Birkeland. Another interesting paper was "the Channel Tunnel Rail Link" by Andrew B Coultade, of Bechtel Ltd.
A number of speeches were not with reference to a specific project but covered general subjects, like those by Mario Maddaloni, with its interesting considerations on PPP, Public Private Partnership, Daniel Sonnino, FW Italiana, who spoke about challenges in delivering successful Mega Projects and Benito Manoli with an interesting presentation about the improvements in the European construction industries over recent years.
At the end of the conference Luigi Iperti was able to conclude that good project management is needed to overcome the challenges of the many mega projects that the construction industry would have to face in the near future and invited all ECI Members to participate in the 22nd IPMA WC of Rome.
