The Italian Project Management Academy gathers its members for a view of its future and elects the new Management Committee.

The Italian Project Management Academy has hold a meeting in Milano on April 21rst 2008 for the election of its new Management Committee for the years 2008-2010.

Introducing the meeting, outgoing President Roberto Mori has pointed out that project management is now considered as a consolidated tool of collaboration among nations, an innovative way to develop competitive capacity and an effective driver for social development and transformations.

The new IPMA-Italy website has been revised under the coordination of Antonio Calabrese, aiming to support future actions not only with the necessary flow of strategic and operative information but also providing direct access to the vast literature on pm available in ANIMP library.

Giovanni F. Salamone and Valerio Nera reviewed the work done to consolidate and expand the p.m. training and certification actions in the Italian market, where the culture of pm is slowly but steadily growing, also in the public sector.

A very stimulating focus was then presented by Maurizio Alessandro on an issue which is playing a role of increasing importance on all large dimension projects, all over the world: how to ensure the concrete application in a project of ethical standards. These are specific management tools for the Project Manager to involve all stakeholders, thus exploiting all synergies coming from a teamwork made by clients, contractors, unions and workers.

Hans Knoepfel (left), President of the Swiss PM Association and member of the Certification Panel Board of IPMA-HQ, stressed the fact that pm techniques are today applied worldwide on the world dramatic priorities. They are now considered as a more effective way to manage projects, in all countries and in all fields.

Mr Knoepfel left also to the audience an interesting new perspective to consider: large projects are important for economic results, image etc, but small projects have a widely higher influence on society, touching the core of human activities on an extremely wide basis, including personal and family life projects. Project management therefore has enormous potentials and great responsibilities!

Luigi Iperti, as Chairman of the XXII IPMA World Congress to be held in Rome on 9-11 Nov. 2008, presented the program of the Congress: the participations already confirmed, the high level of the sponsors and the near to 400 abstracts already submitted by pm professionals from all over the world indicate that the event will provide a deep contribution to the goals of international project management.

At the end of the meeting the results of the election were disclosed: as members of the new Management Committee have been elected Roberto Mori, Filippo Abbà, Alessandro Pedroni, Giuseppe Guadagno, Enrico Cagno, Maurizio Alessandro, Franco Concari, and Antonio Calabrese.

The IPMA-Italy Committee will then meet to elect the President and finalize basic objectives, strategies and a consequent action program.
