A good news that makes news !
The members of the scientific committee responsible for selecting the papers to be presented at the IPMA XXII WC in Rome had no doubt as they started to read the abstract presented by Professor Russel D. Archibald. Like for excellent wines, they were sure to taste an outstanding product just by looking at the label !
Such an opening is no exaggeration. Russ is one of the founding fathers of today's international project management culture and a widely recognized leader in its constant development through the years. He was on the Board of Directors of INTERNET/IPMA for 10 years in the 1970s/80s. His achievements are well known and here we can simply quote this brief sentence from his biography published on www.russarchibald.com :
"... he established the first nation-wide seminar program in project management in the USA in 1970. Since 1982 he has consulted in project management to companies in several industries, governmental agencies, NGOs, and development banks in 16 countries on 4 continents, and has taught project management principles and practices to thousands of managers and specialists around the world."
At the IPMA WC in Rome Russ will deal with a highly stimulating subject:
"The Interfaces Between Strategic Management of an Enterprise and Project Portfolio Management Within the Enterprise". Using his own words "the aim of this paper is to define in meaningful terms the interfaces or inter-relationships between the business processes used to manage the strategic growth of the enterprise and those used to manage the program/project portfolios within the enterprise. It will clarify the boundaries between 'strategic management processes' and 'program/project portfolio management processes."
